The Bionic Chips Diaries (Madison’s Version) is a companion collection to Madison Yuan’s Beyond the Diaries series published on the New Melody blog.
While writing Beyond the Diaries, Madison discovered that many stories, conversations, research notes, and personal memories never found a place in the final published essays. Some were too narrowly focused on individual people, while others explored side events, historical details, or moments that interrupted the larger narrative she wanted to tell. Rather than forcing these pieces into the main series, she set them aside.
The idea of revisiting those unfinished stories did not originally appeal to Madison. She believed that Beyond the Diaries should remain a complete work on its own, and she was reluctant to publish material that she considered secondary or incomplete.
The project changed after a conversation with Luna Huang, who argued that Madison was uniquely qualified to tell those stories. Having spent years researching the history of the Bionic Chips program and writing Beyond the Diaries, Madison possessed both the historical context and the personal perspective necessary to preserve these overlooked moments. Luna encouraged her to view the collection not as a sequel or an expansion, but as a companion archive—one that documents the memories, drafts, and narratives that existed alongside the main series.
Luna Huang serves as the editor of this collection, helping organize Madison’s notes and shaping them into a coherent reading experience while preserving Madison’s original voice.
Unlike Beyond the Diaries, which follows carefully structured essays centered on major historical events and institutional analysis, The Bionic Chips Diaries (Madison’s Version) embraces smaller stories. Entries may include deleted scenes, character reflections, unpublished memories, research fragments, alternate perspectives, and behind-the-scenes accounts that enrich the broader history of the Bionic Chips program.
These entries are not intended to replace or revise the original series. Instead, they exist alongside it, offering readers a glimpse into the stories that remained between the pages—the memories that mattered to Madison, even if they never became part of the final publication.
